May Peace Prevail on Earth, May Peace Be in Slovakia.
The Peace Mountain in Kojsovska hola – peak is a place to symbolize protecting our nature and surrounding and to maintain life on the planet Earth. The project was realized on May 18, 1997 by planting 49 Peace Poles.
Kojsovska hola – peak is situated 26 km from the city Kosice in the north-west. It can be considered thanks to its sea level as the region of middle zone. There is the Hydrometeorological Observatory at the top of Kojsovska hola - peak in 1246 m height. The last village in front of Kojsovska hola – peak is Zlata Idka village.
The Peace Mountain is situated about 250 m near the top on the Private Kojsov Ground land. There are 49 white Peace Poles with text May Peace Prevail on Earth, May Peace Be in Slovakia. 49 Peace Poles demonstrate the situation of Slovakia on the 49 parallel. Three triangles symbolize support of physical, mental and spiritual growth of man. The project was nominated as a project of century and a symbol of peace in Europe.
The Peace Poles are gifts from the World Peace Prayer Society in UN in USA.
At the Peace Mountain are hold meetings with children, teachers and parents from Peace Schools every year on May. In 2000 there was held a Peace Festival including the World Longest Peace Message project. In September every year Peace Mountain becomes a place for celebrating the International Peace Day.
The Peace Mountain gives great conditions to all who are interested in summer and winter sports like walking and mountaineering, driving bike, skiing and having rest in nature. There is possibility for accommodation near the Peace Mountain.
